Belgium - Brussel

Brussel is the capital of Belgium and the de facto capital of the European Union.


Brussels serves as capital of the European Union, hosting the major political institutions of the Union: the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.


Main attractions include the Grand Place, since 1988 a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the Gothic town hall in the old centre, the St. Michael and Gudula Cathedral and the Laken Castle with its large greenhouses.



The Manneken Pis, a bronze sculpture and fountain of a youth urinating is a tourist attraction and symbol of the city.
