Slovakia - Museum of Andy Warhol

Museum of Modern Art of Andy Warhol is in Medzilaborce. It formed on 1 September 1991 as the first in the world and still the only one in Europe.


In addition to the exhibition activities is dominated in the museum presentation, education, counseling, scientific research activities in the field of contemporary art, museumeducation.
John Warhola, Michal Michal Cihlar were the main initiators of the museum.



Warhol was born as Andrew Warhola in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, he was immigrant of Ruthenian ethnicity from the village Miková in the Austro-Monarchy (now northeastern Slovakia). His brothers John and Paul were born even in today's
Slovakia.


Artistic talent he showed early, he studied industrial (commercial) art at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now known as Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh.



After graduating in 1949 he moved to New York and began a he started career as a magazine illustrator in advertising. He became famous primarily with ink paintings of shoes in the distinctive style.




Poland - Kołobrzeg

Kołobrzeg is a city in Middle Pomerania in north-western Poland. Kołobrzeg is located on the Parsęta River on the south coast of the Baltic Sea.


Kołobrzeg today is a popular tourist destination. It provides a unique combination of a seaside resort, health resort, an old town full of historic monuments and tourist entertainment options.


Kołobrzeg is also a regional cultural center. In the summer take place - a number of concerts of popular singers, musicians,and cabaters.








Adršpach-Teplice Rocks

The Adršpach-Teplice Rocks are an unusual set of sandstone formations covering 17 km² in Czech Republic. They are named after two nearby municipalities: Adršpach, and Teplice nad Metují.


The rocks have been protected as a national nature reserve since 1933, and since 1991 the whole adjacent region of Broumovsko has enjoyed the status of protected landscape area. Tourists may visit the rocks via a number of marked trails. The area is a popular destination for rock climbers.

Poland - Malbork

The Castle in Malbork is the largest castle in the world by surface area, and the largest brick building in Europe. It was built by the Teutonic Knights, a German Roman Catholic religious order of crusaders, in a form of an Ordensburg fortress. .


The castle is a classic example of a medieval fortress, and on its completion in 1406 was the world's largest brick castle.


UNESCO designated the "Castle of the Teutonic Order in Malbork" and its Museum as the World Heritage Site in December 1997.

Poland - Gdańsk

Gdańsk is a Polish city on the Baltic coast.


The city lies on the southern edge of Gdańsk Bay (of the Baltic Sea), in a conurbation with the city of Gdynia, spa town of Sopot, and suburban communities, which together form a metropolitan area called the Tricity (Trójmiasto).


The city has many fine buildings. Most tourist attractions are located along or near Ulica Długa (Long Street) and Długi Targ (Long Market), a pedestrian thoroughfare surrounded by buildings reconstructed in historical (primarily 17th century) style and flanked at both ends by elaborate city gates. This part of the city is sometimes referred to as the Royal Road as the former path of processions for visiting kings.


Gdańsk has a number of historical. St Mary (Bazylika Mariacka), a municipal church built during the 15th century, is the largest brick church in the world.
